On Polymarket US, sports and parlays accounted for 88 percent of trading over the same period, with politics generating 72.8 million dollars, or 1.3 percent of volume.
According to Legal Sports Report’s analysis of TickerTracker data, Kalshi processed 25.3 billion dollars in parlays during the 10 days ending November 3. That was nearly 23 dollars for every dollar traded on elections around the midterms.
Kalshi’s volume leans toward sports
Election trading on Kalshi totalled 1.1 billion dollars, representing just 3 percent of platform volume over the period, according to Legal Sports Report.
Non-parlay sports contracts generated another 6.1 billion dollars. The figures show that both parlays and non-parlay sports activity individually exceeded election trading, even during the window surrounding the midterms.
Polymarket US shows a similar concentration
On Polymarket US, sports and parlays together accounted for 88 percent of trading over the same 10-day period, according to Legal Sports Report.
Politics generated 72.8 million dollars on Polymarket US, equivalent to 1.3 percent of volume. The reported categories differ—elections for Kalshi and politics for Polymarket US—but both represented small shares of their respective platforms’ activity.
What it means for prediction markets
- Platform volume is not a proxy for political trading. Sports-related activity dominated the reported figures, despite the period’s proximity to the midterms.
- Contract categories matter. Kalshi’s 25.3 billion dollars in parlays substantially exceeded both its election volume and its non-parlay sports volume.
- The window limits the conclusion. These figures describe the 10 days ending November 3, not either platform’s longer-term trading mix.
