Gold Joins the 15-Minute Club: Polymarket's First Market Beyond Crypto

Polymarket's fastest markets no longer stop at crypto. Its 15-minute gold and silver up-or-down markets are now live, the platform's first contracts outside crypto prices, with Chainlink as the official oracle supplying the pricing for every window.

The format is familiar, the asset is not. Traders buy shares on whether gold or silver closes a rolling 15-minute window above or below the level printed at the open. At spot near $3,980 an ounce, even a $20 move inside a window is just half a percent — a volatility contract, not a claim on the metal itself.

The scale behind the launch is the story. Chainlink and Polymarket say the partnership has already settled more than $11 billion in trading volume across Polymarket's 5- and 15-minute crypto markets. That is about 1.24 times LINK's entire market capitalization of about $8.9 billion, with LINK near $11.59 on October 31, up about 4.9 percent in 24 hours.

The crypto machine it extends is relentless: 15-minute markets settle 96 times a day, crypto accounts for $197 million traded in 24 hours on the DeFi Rate board, and Bitcoin finished up in just 49 percent of its last 1,311 Kalshi windows — 642 of them — a near coin flip where price, not direction, decides the trade.

Gold and silver are only the first step. The stated roadmap is more commodities, with equities and foreign exchange to follow, on a Polymarket US venue that operates as a CFTC-regulated designated contract market. The 15-minute club just opened its doors to traditional assets.
