Commodities Paid $100 Million in Fees in Three Months

The fastest-growing corner of the prediction market is not an election or a football game. Kalshi says its commodities trading fees passed $100 million annualized within three months of launch, a pace most established product lines never reach.

Commodities fit event contracts naturally. A gold or oil contract is a price with a date on it, the same shape as an election with a cheaper argument attached. Traders who would never open a futures account will buy a contract that asks whether a barrel or an ounce finishes above a line.

The commodities line sits inside a broader build-out: crypto volume at $140 billion annualized, perpetual futures at $83 billion traded, and planned indices with S and P.

Three months to a nine-figure fee run-rate says commodities are not a side experiment for the exchange. They are a second business, growing at a speed the first one took years to reach.
