Five Months Old, $14.9 Billion in a Month: Polymarket US Arrived

Polymarket US launched on May 27, 2026. In October alone it traded $14.9 billion in contracts, its biggest month yet and roughly 40 percent of the $36.9 billion it has handled in its entire life. The regulated US arm is no longer a pilot. It is a market.

The last 30 days tell the story: $14.6 billion in contracts traded, $3.4 billion in dollars actually paid, across 10.9 million trades. That is up 62 percent from the 30 days before, good for a 12 percent share of all prediction-market volume, second only to Kalshi at 76 percent, while its international sibling holds 4 percent.

The peak came on October 24, a record $811 million day, inside a record $4.1 billion week from October 23 to 29. October 31 closed at $669 million, still 83 percent of that record. Open interest ended October at $77 million, up 233 percent in 30 days, and traders now work an average of 13,000 markets a day at an average trade of $315.

Sports did the heavy lifting, $14.3 billion of the 30-day total, but the fastest growth sits elsewhere: crypto volume rose 212 percent to $165 million and weather rose 154 percent to $34 million. A five-month-old exchange just posted a month most venues never reach. The question for November is no longer whether Polymarket US belongs. It is how much of Kalshi's 76 percent it takes next.
