Bitcoin slips under $82K as Polymarket's daily-target contracts collapse

BTC fell below $82,000 on a ~2.3% 24-hour decline (8 PM ET snapshot). Polymarket's "Bitcoin above $82,000 on October 13" Yes crashed to 46% from 69.5% six hours earlier…

Bitcoin moved below $82,000 as Polymarket traders sharply reduced the probability of it finishing above that threshold at the October 13 settlement checkpoint. According to The Agent Times, citing Alpaca data, BTC/USD ended its five-minute bar at $81,743.745 at 00:00 UTC on October 13, 2026—the 8 PM ET snapshot on October 12—down 2.31% over 24 hours.

The $82,000 threshold becomes a close contest

Polymarket’s October 13 contract for Bitcoin above $82,000 showed a 46% “Yes” probability, compared with 69.5% six hours earlier, according to The Agent Times. That 23.5-percentage-point drop left the outcome below even odds. The contract had $47,068.29 in liquidity and $65,754.27 in 24-hour trading volume.

The lower daily threshold held a substantially higher probability. The October 13 contract for Bitcoin above $80,000 stood at 91.6%, versus 96.85% six hours before, a decline of 5.25 percentage points. Its liquidity was $47,436.25, with $76,308.13 in 24-hour volume.

Expectations for a larger October rebound also weakened. The contract asking whether Bitcoin would reach $90,000 during October showed a 24.5% probability, down 4.0 percentage points from 28.5%. It carried $95,523.64 in liquidity and $39,361.74 in 24-hour volume.

Spot weakness extends across observation windows

Alpaca’s BTC/USD observations showed declines of 2.311464% over 24 hours, 0.798301% over six hours, 0.376654% over one hour and 0.255506% over 30 minutes, The Agent Times reported. The 24-hour window began at $83,677.93 and included a high of $84,265.365 and a low of $81,662.439. That low occurred in the final 30-minute window.

The six-hour period began at 18:00 UTC on October 12, with a starting price of $82,401.5575 and approximately 0.107 BTC in volume across 72 bars. Alpaca’s reported volume totaled 7.6260046 BTC over 24 hours, while the latest 30 minutes accounted for 0.001 BTC. Those venue-specific observations are separate from Polymarket’s displayed probabilities and do not establish a causal link between spot trading and contract repricing.

What it means for prediction markets

  • Settlement is still ahead. Both daily contracts use the Binance BTC/USDT one-minute candle closing at 12:00 ET on October 13, at their respective $82,000 and $80,000 thresholds. The Alpaca snapshot does not determine either result.
  • The daily thresholds show different risk assessments. The $82,000 outcome fell to 46%, while the $80,000 outcome remained at 91.6%, despite both declining over the same six-hour comparison period.
  • The monthly contract measures a different event. The $90,000 October outcome requires any Binance BTC/USDT one-minute candle during October 2026 to record a high at or above $90,000—not a closing price at the daily contracts’ checkpoint.
