On NFL Sunday, Football Came Fourth: Esports and the NBA Took the Board

It is an NFL Sunday, and on Polymarket the football is not where the money is. Of the ten highest-volume markets in the last 24 hours, not one is an NFL game. The board belongs to esports and basketball: Hanwha Life Esports against Bilibili Gaming drew $7.4 million in 24 hours, on $7.8 million traded in total, ahead of every American football contract on the platform.

The chasing pack tells the same story. Karmine Corp against Movistar KOI drew $4.5 million in 24 hours, Dota 2's Team Yandex against Team Spirit drew another $4.5 million, and the NBA's Cavaliers against Bucks drew $3.1 million, on $3.9 million in total. Three different sports, none of them the one filling stadiums this afternoon.

The contrast is sharpest across venues. On the cross-venue most-traded list, the busiest NFL game market, the Jets as 54 percent favourites, drew $2.4 million in 24 hours, and the Lions at 63 percent drew $2.0 million. A single League of Legends series on Polymarket traded roughly three times the busiest NFL game market.

This is the new shape of a sports Sunday. Polymarket counted 716 active markets and $195.5 million traded in 24 hours, $4.9 billion in total, and the flow follows start times around the world, not one league's calendar. Football still owns the afternoon in America. On the exchange, it now has to queue.
