91 Percent at Fight Time: Canelo's Market Left the Bookies Behind

91 Percent at Fight Time: Canelo's Market Left the Bookies Behind

On fight day in Riyadh, the prediction market stopped treating Canelo Alvarez's comeback as a contest. CoinStats' Saturday evening board read, at 7:11 PM ET, priced Canelo as the favourite at 91 percent on Kalshi, with $5.2 million traded in 24 hours on that venue and $6.6 million in total volume on the market, which resolves November 1. Hours earlier, the same contract sat at 74 percent on just $296K traded. Fight day did not nudge the price. It ran it over.

The stakes explain the rush. Canelo, 36 and 63-3-2, was fighting for the first time since losing to Terence Crawford in September 2025, and he was the challenger this time: unbeaten WBC super middleweight champion Christian Mbilli, 29-0-1 with 24 knockouts, held the belt on the Mexico vs. The World card in Riyadh.

The striking gap was between the two kinds of market. Sportsbooks kept the upset alive all week: BetMGM had Canelo at -300, the best bookmaker price was 2/5, an implied chance of about 71 percent, and Mbilli was available at 13/5. Kalshi's traders, putting up millions on the day itself, priced the same comeback at 91 percent, near certainty.

The whole card traded, not just the main event. On Kalshi's undercard board, Jaime Munguia was -900 against Nikita Zon, a 90 percent implied chance, Rafael Espinoza was the biggest favourite on the card at -1567, and David Picasso was -355 against Carl Martin.

Boxing's biggest name now trades like a stock on fight day, and the exchange, not the bookmaker, posted the boldest number in the building.
