- Utah attorney general seeks 61.2 million dollars from Kalshi over 3 billion dollars in trades by 32,000 residents, SCCG reports — SCCG reported on October 23 that Utah Attorney General Derek Brown filed a complaint against Kalshi, an affiliate and two Susquehanna trading firms, seeking up to 61.2 million dollars over about 3 billion dollars in trades by at least 32,000 Utah residents. Utah wants Kalshi sports, politics, election and culture contracts blocked in the state, while Kalshi argues its CFTC regulation preempts state gambling law, following an August federal ruling that rejected preemption for sports contracts.
