Prediction Markets Just Had a $4 Billion Day

On Thursday, $4.0 billion traded in 24 hours across nine prediction market exchanges — the latest record in the biggest month this industry has ever seen.
October 2026 is now the busiest month in prediction market history. Kalshi out-traded Polymarket in monthly volume for the first time, and Polymarket's monthly active traders hit an all-time high of 477,850 — up 94% from September.
Kalshi's numbers read like a mature exchange, not a startup: annualized trading volume above $1 trillion, more than 30 million accounts, over 75% of all prediction market volume, and non-sports revenue running above $1 billion a year. On Thursday it raised $1 billion at a $40 billion valuation.
A single NFL weekend — October 24–25 — moved more than $14 billion in notional volume, the largest two-day total on record, $10 billion of it on Kalshi alone.
The category is no longer emerging. It has arrived.
