- Portugal cracks down on Polymarket following suspicious election betting activity, BitRss reports — Portugal's Gambling Regulation and Inspection Service, SRIJ, has confirmed Polymarket operates illegally in Portugal, where betting on political events is prohibited, notified the platform on Friday with 48 hours to cease activity and is moving to ask internet providers to block it. Attention followed more than 4 million euros wagered shortly before presidential results were known, with total volume on the main presidential market exceeding 120 million dollars and Antonio Jose Seguro odds surging from around 60 percent in the morning to over 90 percent by early evening ahead of official projections.
