Polymarket paid creators to stage up to 1.9 million dollars in fake winning bets on a copycat site, WSJ investigation reported by BitRss finds

  • Polymarket paid creators to stage up to 1.9 million dollars in fake winning bets on a copycat site, WSJ investigation reported by BitRss finds — BitRss, reporting a Wall Street Journal investigation published October 24, said Polymarket paid college-age creators 2,000 to 3,000 dollars a month to post videos of bets seemingly won on its platform, while the trades were actually placed on dummy sites such as poiymarket.com and had no blockchain trace. WSJ reviewed at least 1,105 videos and found none real; 118 clips celebrating roughly 900,000 dollars in wins would in reality have lost over 166,000 dollars, and Polymarket has taken the dummy site down and intends to audit its promotional content.
