- Australia regulator ASIC casts doubt on retail prediction markets, calling the contracts bets, Bitcoin.com reports — Australia's securities regulator ASIC said it is not currently convinced retail prediction markets are in the public interest, describing the contracts as having all the features of a bet and likening them to binary options, which are banned for retail clients until 2031. ASIC Chair Sarah Court told senators no operator has applied to run a prediction market in Australia, and Polymarket has been blocked there since August 2025 as an illegal gambling service.
